It was also found that adverse events following immunisation with HPV vaccine have been predominantly mild and transient in nature, with the vaccine safety record similar to that of other vaccines on the National Immunisation Program. The evaluation makes a range of recommendations to enhance the program and further improve vaccine coverage and equity. View this report COVID-19: Impact on routine childhood vaccination uptake in Australia 2020 This report shows analysis of the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and associated response measures on routine childhood immunisation using Australian Immunisation Register data. There was no evidence of substantial impact on vaccination uptake in children at national or state/territory level, for vaccinations due up to July 2020, which is a reflection of consistent messaging from health authorities about maintaining routine immunisations during the pandemic and providing COVID-19 safe vaccination opportunities. View this report Key findings - Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2019 2020 This summary report presents key findings from the Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2019 which focussed on changes in immunisation coverage among all children aged <5 years at key milestone ages of 12, 24 and 60 months between 2018 and 2019. The summary report shows 'fully vaccinated' coverage at 12, 24 and 60 months; individual vaccine/antigen coverage; MMR and influenza vaccination coverage; and vaccination coverage among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. This report also highlights that although timeliness of vaccination issues persisted in 2019, the disparity in ‘fully vaccinated’ coverage between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children decreased at 24 months. View this report Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2019 2020 The Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2019 is the 13th in the series, and shows data for the calendar year 2019 derived from the Australian Immunisation Register for all children aged <5 years. The report focusses on changes in vaccination coverage at key milestone ages of 12, 24 and 60 months between 2018 and 2019, but also documents important trends and their relationship to relevant policy and program changes. ‘Fully vaccinated’ coverage increased at all three age milestones in all children. ‘Fully vaccinated’ coverage also increased in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children by 0.5–1.1% in 2019. View this report COVID-19: Transmission in educational settings in NSW Term 3 report 2020 NCIRS, with the support of the New South Wales (NSW) Ministry of Health and NSW Department of Education, continued surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in educational settings in school term 3 of the academic year. This report provides an overview of investigation into all COVID-19 cases in NSW, Australia in all primary and high schools and in early childhood education and care services between 4 July 2020 and 25 September 2020. View this report COVID-19: Transmission in educational settings in NSW Term 2 report 2020 NCIRS, with the support of the NSW Ministry of Health and NSW Department of Education, continued surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in educational settings between 10 April 2020 and 3 July 2020 (school term 2 of the academic year). This report summarises the preliminary findings of this work in early childhood education and care services, and primary and high schools in NSW. View this report COVID-19: Transmission in educational settings in NSW Term 1 report 2020 NCIRS, with the support of the NSW Ministry of Health and Department of Education, started an investigation in early March into all COVID-19 cases in schools and early childhood education care (ECEC) services to understand the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in these educational settings in the context of New South Wales, Australia. This report summarises the findings of this investigation for the period 25 January 2020 to 9 April 2020 (school term 1 of the academic year) during the first pandemic wave, and updates preliminary data in our report dated 26 April 2020. This report can also be read in conjunction with a published peer-reviewed journal article on this study in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health. View this report Coverage at the 2-year and 5-year age milestones 2020 This research report presents exploratory analysis of coverage estimates of vaccines/antigens assessed at the 2-year and 5-year age milestone and factors contributing to lower ‘fully vaccinated’ coverage at the 2-year age milestone than at the 5-year age milestone. It highlights that changes in the National Immunisation Program schedule and the more number of vaccines assessed at the 2-year coverage assessment algorithm have impacted coverage estimates at this milestone and suggests coverage algorithm at 5 years should be expanded to include a more comprehensive range of vaccines that a child should have received by this age to better reflect true coverage. View this report Review of pharmacist vaccination reporting to Australian Immunisation Register 2020 With the role of pharmacies expanding to provide more vaccinations, and an important component of vaccine administration by any provider being reporting vaccinations to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), NCIRS conducted a study to analyse pharmacist vaccination data in AIR, describe the landscape of pharmacist vaccination and outline processes for recording and reporting pharmacist vaccinations to AIR.
