Submitting a second vaccination encounter to the AIR does not amend or remove a previous incorrect encounter. This may result in the second encounter going into a pend status.  Providers will be contacted to clarify the correct vaccine code. These delays impact a patient’s access to timely and accurate immunisation history.  

To avoid this, vaccination providers should make amendments as soon as possible, by:

Important: updates to an existing vaccination must be made using the same provider number that the original vaccination was reported under. 
Where providers are unable to make an update, they should contact AIR on 1800 653 809 to update or remove the original encounter.
