NCIRS, with the support of the NSW Ministry of Health and Department of Education, started an investigation in early March into all COVID-19 cases in schools and early childhood education care (ECEC) services to understand the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in these educational settings in the context of New South Wales, Australia. This report summarises the findings of this investigation for the period 25 January 2020 to 9 April 2020 (school term 1 of the academic year) during the first pandemic wave, and updates preliminary data in our report dated 26 April 2020. This report can also be read in conjunction with a published peer-reviewed journal article on this study in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health.
