Access now: new NCIRS poster on clinically correct administration of childhood vaccines

NCIRS has released a new resource designed to support immunisation providers in administering routine childhood vaccines in clinically correct ways.

The ‘Recommended sites for childhood vaccination’ resource – an A3 poster available for download and printing (in colour and black-and-white versions) from the NCIRS website – covers childhood vaccines funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) Schedule as well as additional vaccines funded by some Australian states and territories.

The poster features annotated illustrations for each immunisation schedule point for children aged 2 months to 4 years and details the relevant recommended vaccines, vaccination sites and routes of administration.

It also provides needle size recommendations, a vaccination preparation checklist and additional clinical advice.

Correct identification of vaccination sites and use of proper technique are critical to the safe and effective administration of vaccines.
