New resource - Hepatitis B vaccines for Australians fact sheet

A new NCIRS fact sheet – Hepatitis B vaccines for Australians – has been developed for healthcare professionals. 

Hepatitis B continues to be a public health problem in Australia, causing considerable morbidity and mortality. There were 479 reported deaths due to chronic hepatitis B virus infection in 2017. Vaccination is an effective prevention strategy against this disease. 

This fact sheet summarises key information about hepatitis B disease, epidemiology, clinical features and vaccination recommendations. It adds to a wide range of resources we have to inform healthcare professionals about vaccine-preventable diseases.
