Celebrating International Women’s Day 2020: Each for Equal

International Women’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, 8 March. International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The 2020 campaign theme is #EachforEqual, an equal world is an enabled world. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist, once explained, "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."

At NCIRS we celebrate the role our female leaders, including Director Professor Kristine Macartney, and our staff have played, and continue to play,  in leading and supporting collaborative research and in advancing immunisation policy and practice to save lives and achieve better health through the equitable use of vaccines both in Australia and at regional and global levels. At NCIRS, women are able to achieve their greatest potential, both professionally and personally, and contribute to global public health in the process.
